Emanuelle on Taboo Island, Emmanuelle kielletyllä saarella, Emanuelle ja unohdettu paratiisi, Emanuelle de l'île Taboo, Emmanuelle: l'île perdue, Emanuelle - Insel ohne Tabus, I Emmanouela aihmaloti sto nisi tou erota, Tiltott sziget, Det forbudte paradis, Tabu Adası, A Beach Called Desire, Taboo Island, 欲望海滩, The Beach of Desire, Emanuelle in Tahiti
Another in-name-only pseudo (Black) Emanuelle movie starring Laura Gemser and I believe at least the second film I've seen this year that revolves around the idea of men being stranded with Laura (not playing Emanuelle in either of them) in some deserted location.
This is clearly adds the word 'Taboo' to the title because two of the men in this movie are her brother and her father who she innocently seems to have relations with, which is the only fairly exploitive aspect here.
For the most part this is a 'Blue Lagoon'-esque erotic drama with a tone that shifts from breezy and sexy to pretty grim every once in a while. Arthuer Kennedy is adding another exploitation movie to his…
Emmanuelle does not appear in this film.
A surprisingly dramatic and slow movie about incest and frolicking on a tropical island.
Not super sexy or explicit, but with an okay story and a strange ending. Better but duller than expected. The mean, old white guy was the real star.
The Beach of Desire, or Emanuelle on Taboo Island, is the first film to cash in on Laura Gemser's iconic role after the 1975 film despite sharing no direct narrative link with Black Emanuelle at all. She plays a character named Haydee, an island girl similar to the one that started her career in Free Love, though here, she is totally subservient. It's a really frustrating power shift if you see this right after Emanuelle in Bangkok like I did, but also manages to make the previous films more effective in hindsight. I'm still not sure why this was one of three entries included in Severin's book without being featured within the box set, but oh well. It has a sweet sexy soundtrack, cozy tropical romance beats, and Paolo Giusti with his shirt off for a majority of the runtime. Could use a restoration.
Faux Emanuelle on faux Debussy island. As an exploitation film a complete bust (Kennedy especially is completely wasted), and even as a third-rate take on BLUE LAGOON at best barely tolerable. The sex scenes are very long and very soft. Still, Gemser seems relaxed throughout, maybe the lower energy level on display here was a welcome change of pace.
Advertised as an EMMANUELLE film, this Italian island based drama is actually a non-Emmanuelle film that was originally filmed as A BEACH CALLED DESIRE as it depicts what happens when a city based man(Paolo Giusti[PATRICK STILL LIVES,INNOCENTS WITH DIRTY HANDS]) gets tired of ordinary life and sets out sailing on a small boat as he soon finds himself on a lone island, where he discovers that it is populated by a lone man(Arthur Kennedy[LAWRENCE OF ARABIA,THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE{a.k.a.:LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE,DON'T OPEN THE WINDOW}]) and his two adult siblings(Laura Gemser[PRIVATE COLLECTIONS,ENDGAME{1983}],Nicola Paguone) as he discovers that not only is he unwelcomed by both Kennedy and Paguone on the island but that Paguone is engaging in an incestrous relationship…
Taking a detour from the Black Emanuelle films to check out this re-titled cash grab, & it definitely doesn't measure up to what I've seen of the series proper thus far. It's got some good stuff in it for sure, but isn't near as consistently pleasurable or skillfully assembled--these stars are really just for being afforded more time to look respectfully at Laura Gemser. (The lead male actor is pretty attractive, too.)
“Emmanuelle on Taboo Island” (La Spiaggia del Desiderio) should really have been titled “Emmanuelle on Boring Island.” The insipid story has junkie Daniel (Paolo Giusti) washing up on a tropical island where he comes across escaped convict Antonio (Arthur Kennedy) and his two offspring Haydee (Laura Gemser) and Juan (Nicola Paguone). Antonio isn’t happy about the new arrival fearing he will be recaptured by the authorities while Juan isn’t happy that Daniel is encroaching on his incestual relationship with Haydee. “La Spiaggia del Desiderio” has nothing to do with the Black Emmanuelle series, other than the presence of Laura Gemser and comes across as a cheap and shoddy, retitled cash in. Twin directors Enzo D'Ambrosio and Humberto Morales avoid any…
A guy lands on a desert island and finds out it isn't deserted: Laura Gemser lives on it with her father and brother and their relations are not necessarily that "familial"...
Rather boring man-trapped-in-tropical-paradise incestuous extravaganza. It's like watching The Blue Lagoon, only with smaller budget. At least Gemser is beautiful as always and - for most of the time - undressed.
