May 8, 1950October 14, 2020
Elizabeth Ann Crozier Mathis was born in Houston on May 8, 1950 and died in Nacogdoches on October 14, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents William Ellyson and Elizabeth Byrd Hill Crozier of Houston. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by her husband Robert of Nacogdoches, son David of Seattle, sister Gail Bennett of Houston, and niece Carol Bennett of Houston. Ann grew up in Houston. She held two degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University and was a long time programmer analyst in the Computer Center of that institution. She enjoyed interacting with friends across the nation who shared her eclectic devotions to the Beatles, Mario Lanza, The Fugitive, X-Files, and Gunsmoke. She designed and treasured her peaceful home in the woods where deer and other wildlife entertained. She worshiped cats and fervently opposed all forms of cruelty to animals. She loved to travel. An avid reader, she was never happier than when reading a good book. She was passionate about social justice and the equal and compassionate treatment of all humankind. Ann lived a meaningful life, even though it ended much too soon. For the sake of our suffering planet and our fragile democratic republic, her footprints were in the right places.
