Primed for Disappointment
Grey + Beige = Greige: go-to “staging” shade

Chuck’s house, emptied at last, has been primed for sale.
Chuck’s choice of decor was mid-last century. (Scratch that — it was the choice of the prior owner’s predecessor.) The fussy floral wallpaper had to go. Ditto the gold-flecked Formica and the sand-speckled linoleum.
Not wanting to witness the devastation, we waited until the crew had departed.
As we bemoaned the sea of sickly greige, the realtor walked in and told us it was primer.
Our relief was short-lived. Per the chips, the shades of paint and primer were indistinguishable. Greige rules the millennial contingent; thus was Chuck’s house primed for sale.
