Royalty. Born the fourth child and second daughter of Wladyslaw I and his wife Hedwig von Kalisch. On July 6th, 1320 she married Charles I Robert of Hungary whom she bore five children. Their marriage founded the Polish-Hungarian alliance that worked as a counterweight to the Luxemburg family in Bohemia which influenced the political powers in middle-europe. In 1339 her brother named her husband and their eldest son Louis as his successors when it became clear that he would lack a male heir. After Casimir's death, Louis was hastily crowned King and named her regent in Poland. She was overwhelmed with the task and the polish nobles became embittered that Louis cared little about their interest. The nobles revolted in 1375 and Elisabeth had to flee to Hungary. Nevertheless, she remained Louis most influential advisor until her death.
