Margaret Eleanor HOUSTON (Dorman) — Three Mile Plains

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Margaret Eleanor Houston on November 14. 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, N.S. Margaret was a beautiful person inside and out. Her willingness to help others and to always be there for her family was second to none. Mum was born to the late George Smith Dorman and his wife Pansy Ethel (Rose, Dorman) Carson in Windsor, N.S., on December 1, 1937. Margaret’s work life took her many places. She worked at Nova Scotia Textiles for over twenty years and then went to the Bens Bakery outlet where she spent over twenty-seven years, retiring in April 1999. Mum went to live at Dykeland Lodge just one week ago but so enjoyed the staff and we are grateful for their kindness to her. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth ( Betty ) Windsor, Vivian, Three Mile Plains; her chosen family Dewar and Helen Lindsay, Windsor and her grandchildren and great grandchildren Maggie (Paul ) of Ashburn, Virginia and their children Anthony, Mark, Lindsay and Nolan James, Amy (Curtis ) Merry of Falmouth and their children, who lovingly called her Little Nanny, Grayson Dewar and Fletcher James Houston Merry and a new grandbaby due in the spring of 2023, Rob (Jennifer ) of Falmouth and their children, Ryleigh, Graham, Reese and Griffin. She is survived by her brother, Douglas and his wife Frances Dorman; and sister-in-law, Leah (late Raymond) Carson; and many nieces and nephews and very special friends, Blaine and Mary Draper, Riverview and their daughter, Erin (Matt Mackinnon). Margaret was pre-deceased by our Dad James Henry “Hank” Houston on October 21, 2007, she was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Alan, Glendon (Evelyn), Dale (Katherine), and Raymond. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 7-9 p.m. in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, NS, B0N2T0. Funeral service will take place on Friday, November 18th at 11 a.m. in the Windsor United Church. Burial to follow in the Maplewood Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held in the church hall following the burial.
