ROBERT RYAN Obituary

HYDE - Robert Edward Ryan, of Hyde passed away at his home on Sunday, July 10, 2022.

Born Dec. 10, 1932, in Green Bay, Wisc., he was the son of Maurice and Wilma (Baeten) Ryan.

He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1950. After attending Gannon College and Penn State University, Bob enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served overseas in Korea. Upon his discharge from the Army, he went to work in the family business, Ryan Brothers Coal Company. He eventually assumed ownership of the company and ran it successfully until his retirement.

On Sept. 3, 1956, Bob married Susan Olson at St. Francis Church in Clearfield. They remained married for 60 years until Susan's passing on Dec. 13, 2016. Together they raised their family, ran the family business, and provided an example to all of what a true marriage partnership is.

Bob was a parishioner of St. Francis Church and over the years volunteered in many capacities for his church and for St. Francis School. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

Together with his family, Bob enjoyed many good times at camp, then Treasure Lake and more recently the cabin. Bob and Susan attended many Penn State football games with special friends and when his grandchildren were growing up, they seldom missed attending the kid's sporting events.

Bob was a life long Green Bay Packers fan. There likely has been no greater supporter of his beloved Pack through the good years and the bad. His loyalty never faltered.

Bob is survived by three sons and a daughter, John and his wife Debbie, Joseph and his wife Brenda, Michael and his wife Annette and Ruth Anne and her husband John Catalano.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren, John, William, Molly and her husband Kevin, Daniel, Beau and his wife Staci, David, Jayme and her husband Garrett, Caitlin and her husband Tim, Jennie and her husband Douglas, and Johanna and her husband Tyler; two step grandchildren, Sara and her partner, Zach and Rachel and her husband, Juan.

There are also five great grandchildren, Jackson, James, Beau, Aumia and Carl; and two step great grandchildren, Caden and Avery.

Bob is also survived by his brother, Thomas and his wife Elaine; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his very special friend, Marjorie Beatty.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary; and her husband, Donald Greene.

The family invites all friends to join them for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Catholic School, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830.

Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, Clearfield is in charge of arrangements.
