Beatrice, who is ninth in line to the throne and is a granddaughter of the Queen, has become the only princess to marry someone with children and take on a stepchild.

The father-of-one has a young son, Christopher, whose nickname is Woolfie, with his former partner of three-and-a-half years.

Edo is said to enjoy an amicable relationship with Dara and prides himself on still being an active part of his son's life.

In August last year he told the Telegraph: 'I take [Christopher] to school a couple of mornings a week and finish in time to put him in bed three or four evenings.'

In January, a friend of the former couple told the Mail On Sunday they remain close, and that Dara still cuts Edo's hair and occasionally buys him clothes.

Beatrice has reportedly welcomed Dara into her life, adopting a stepmother role to Woolfie.

She is believed to have been on the guestlist for the wedding when it was first planned, but it's not known if she made the cut for the slimmed down nuptials today.

Dara, who posted pictures yesterday enjoying a tennis lesson in Chelsea, has reportedly also found love following the break-up from her former fiancee.

The architect is thought to be with 37-year-old London-based financier, Filippos Kodellas de la Morena.

History of British royal stepmothers

Former Queen of England Joan of Navarre became stepmother to King Henry IV's children when they married on 7 February, 1403.

Joan, who already had seven children with her late first husband John IV, Duke of Brittany, had no further children with Henry. She enjoyed a good relationship with Henry's children from his first marriage, and is recorded to have often take the side of the future Henry V during family quarrels.

Anne Boleyn became stepmother to husband King Henry VII's daughter Mary I, which he shared with his first wife, Catherine of Aragon - as did his four future wives Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr.

The subsequent four women also became stepmother to his and Anne Boleyn's daughter Elizabeth I.

Jane Seymour gave birth to his only son Edward VI, with the role of stepmother to three children falling to his final three wives.

Queen Mary I, also known as Mary Tudor, became a stepmother when she married Prince Philip of Spain, who had a son from a previous marriage.

Lady Mary Grey, the youngest daughter of Henry Grey, 1st Duke of Suffolk, and Frances Brandon, provoked scandal when she married the Queen's serjeant porter Thomas Keyes, son of Richard Keyes, esquire, of East Greenwich, Kent. He was a widower twice her age with six or seven children, which she became stepmother to.

Mary of Moderna became stepmother to widow James II of England's two surviving daughters when they married in 1673.

'Dara is very happy,' a source revealed to the Daily Mail earlier this year, 'She met Filippos through mutual friends. He’s just as handsome and successful as Edo.'

Her new flame is reportedly the son of a Greek diplomat and a well-connected Spanish mother.

A close family friend of Edoardo's stated that the couple split six months before he began dating Beatrice.

Beatrice, who has known Edoardo for several years, is said to have begun a romantic relationship with the millionaire after meeting him again at Eugenie's wedding to her long-term partner Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle in October in 2018.
