Biography

Edith Marguerite (Margot) Harrington was born at 32 Linver Road, Fulham, on 14 June 1893.

Marriage and family

In April 1916 she married (as his 1st wife) Philip Morton Shand, with whom she had one son, Bruce Middleton Hope Shand, the father of Camilla Rosemary Shand, Duchess of Cornwall, 1st wife of Andrew Henry Parker Bowles, and 2nd wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. They were divorced in 1920.

Death

She died on 3 January 1981, in her 88th year [The Times, 7 Jan 1981].

Legacy

She was the grandmother of Camilla Rosemary Parker Bowles née Shand, HRH the Duchess of Cornwall, who married (as his 2nd wife) HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall.
