Woodrow Wilson was the son of an immigrant mother from England, and the grandson of immigrant grandparents from Ireland and Scotland. Only three of his great-grandparents are known to have immigrated to America. Most of his extended family members in the United States were scattered through the northern states. Only his immediate family, and those of his mother’s sister and brother lived in the South before, during, and after the Civil War.

Below find a link to an online database that has been compiled to-date on the Genealogy of President Woodrow Wilson, as well as both of his wives, Ellen Louise Axson, and Edith Bolling Galt. There is also a link to a copy of the scholarly article that appeared in a 2014 edition of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly that explored Wilson’s earliest family ties in America.
