Woodrow Wilson was the son of an immigrant mother from England, and the grandson of immigrant grandparents from Ireland and Scotland. Only three of his great-grandparents are known to have immigrated to America. Most of his extended family members in the United States were scattered through the northern states. Only his immediate family, and those of his mother’s sister and brother lived in the South before, during, and after the Civil War.
