He married Maria Herzogin von Jülich-Kleve-Berg on 1 October 1510. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. In 1521, at the age of 31, his occupation is listed as herzog von jülich-kleve-berg. He died on 6 February 1539, in Cleve, Cleves, at the age of 48, and was buried in Holy Roman Empire.
