  Duet for One is based on the life of conductor Daniel Barenboim and his wife, cellist Jacqueline du Pré, and Cannon originally bought this back when they made The Wicked Lady, as it was a movie that Faye Dunaway and her husband Terry O’Neill had wanted to make.

  A stage play by Tom Kempinski, who also wrote the screenplay, this movie was directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, who also made Maria’s Lovers and Runaway Train for Cannon, so he had good luck at making highly regarded films for the lowy regarded studio.

  Is this movie good? 🤷
  But is it my favorite movie? Absolutely it is 

  Julie Andrews proves her acting talent in this film and truly exposes a raw side of herself in her most dramatic role. 
  It is the role that most focuses on character analysis, and ultimately lets the viewer experience her depth. 

  With a repertoire of films full of musicals and upbeat plots, this movie lets us sit with her, cry with her, be upset with her, and experience all the little moments, rather than the big ones, that make this viewing experience the most personal.

  Eh, Jesse Fuller probably wouldn't have found this title particularly impressive. Well, somebody had to take this title at least remotely literally when Tom Kempinski adapted his two-hander play with a massive ensemble cast, and when that cast's one singer doesn't even get a solo. Julie Andrews may be glad to know that she didn't have to learn that much violin for this role after all, but her Stephanie Anderson is none too happy about multiple sclerosis cutting her esteemed musical career short. Max von Sydow's Dr. Louis Feldman is ill-prepared to treat her fury and despair when the psychiatrist is grappling with his own depression and dysfunction. The two-hander then opens up to Stephanie's husband as he resolves to…

  je dirais juste que le violon c'est joli et que la copie de la cinémathèque était vraiment datée comme jaja
