Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

While the most famous Kremlin is located in Moscow (and is often referred to in the Western world as “The Kremlin” in reference to the Russian—or in the past, Soviet—government), the general term for a major historic Russian fortified complex is “kremlin”. A number of them—including the Moscow Kremlin and the Novgorod Kremlin—are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nizhny Novgorod’s kremlin dates to the early 16th century, while Pskov’s was constructed in the late 15th.

Whew I finally got off the schneid thanks to recalling the definition of “kremlin” from those Russian language courses!😌

    • I learned a lot of Pushkin and Lermontov in my Russian classes, but never were we talk the meaning of Kremlin 🙁 I guessed Citidel.

  2. I received a copy of Gorky’s “My Childhood” as a prize in elementary school and that had the Kremlin of Nizhny Novgorod – which confused me at that time.

  3. Somewhere, back in the cobwebs of my mind, I dug out Kremlin. Knowing nothing about Russian history, I surprised myself!

  4. Some little gear turned in my brain and spat out Kremlin.

  5. I got the kremlin out of my head despite not having to study about russian history while only learning about the czars and playing Red Alert 2 I surprised my self there.

  6. Congratulations on Troy for becoming the 4th-5 day+ champion this season. Then their is David Sibley at being a 4 day champion. So now we need 10 more 5 day + champions towards the next TOC, plus the contestants that will be given a second chance.

  7. I’m glad that it was a triple get. The idea that kremlin is not a proper noun may not be obvious.

To all who love to comment here on their success (and, failures,) on the Final Jeopardy clues, you will probably love today’s The Family Circus by Bil and Jeff Keane. Youll find it on the comics page of your local newspaper, or, at comicskingdom.com
The trend Andy mentioned of four day champions who had runnaways, but having at least relatively close games going into Final Jeopardy, in their fifth game, held true again today.
As for this game’s Final Jeopardy, when I heard/read the clue, I shrugged, and, said ‘What is Kremlin?’ Somewhere I must’ve read/heard that was what Russian for fort. Only explanation I have for getting it right, besides getting lucky with a wild guess.

  9. What an outstanding game!

  10. I’m so stoked for the next ToC
