Donald Gray (3rd March, 1914 - 7th April, 1978) was the stage name of Eldred Donald Owermann Tidbury, a British actor who is best remembered in modern times for having provided the character voices of the Mysteronised Captain Black, Colonel White, and the Mysterons in Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.
Unfortunately, by that time in his career, he was so hard up for work that he was forced to accept roles in children's programmes (as which Captain Scarlet was miscategorised) to make ends meet.
A native of South Africa, Gray had had to have his left arm amputated, before his acting career truly began, as the direct result of an injury he had sustained to the arm. As his family name was actually "Tidbury," he was unrelated to Barry Gray, the music-score composer for almost all of Gerry Anderson's best-known Super-marionation productions.
Gray died in 1978 at the age of 64.
