Canton Musician Couple Marti Jones & Don Dixon Play the Kent Stage

Tue 10/22 @ 8PM

Canton native Marti Jones met North Carolina-based producer Don Dixon (Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw, R.E.M.) back in the early 1980s when he produced an EP by the band she fronted, new wave/pop band Color Me Gone. They got married and settled down in Canton.

Color Me Gone was short-lived, but Jones and Dixon are still going strong. Dixon continued while Jones she has grown a new career as a painter. They’ve put out many wonderful albums over the years, infusing their pop sensibilities with an edge of wit. Dixon released High & Filthy & Borderline in 2013, and Jones came out with the light-spirited You’re Not The Bossa Me in 2014. With their vast repertoire of memorable pop tunes (both are terrific songwriters), their perfectly meshing harmonies and their knack for entertaining onstage banter, their occasional shows in this area are always worth catching.

They’ll be performing at the Kent Stage this time out as part of the Kent Stage Music Week Sun 10/20-Sun 10/27. Most of the others are sold out or almost sold out but this one is well worth going to. Tickets are $20.
