It turns out celebrities have celebrity hall passes, too. Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb played a fun mini game on Today with their guests Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott, otherwise known as the Property Brothers, in which they dished on some of their most embarrassing moments, amongst other things.
But Bush Hager found herself in the hot seat when she was asked to reveal who her celebrity hall pass is.
“My celebrity hall pass is Colin Firth,” she admitted.
Kotb said, “I knew it!” as Bush Hager continued, “Yes it is. So Colin, call me!”
Jonathan then chimed in to say, “Jenna, I have Colin in my phone, do you want me to call him now? Should we do this?”
As for how these two know each other? Our best bet is a Zooey Deschanel connection (she and Jonathan got engaged in 2023), but unfortunately, Jonathan didn’t explain further on Today. Clearly, Jenna was just as surprised as us by the unlikely connection.
“You do not!” she responded in shock, though she did not ask him to give the King’s Speech star a call.
It’s probably for the best, as the last time Bush Hager felt like she took a joke about infidelity “too far” on Today, she became quite “defensive.”
During one memorable episode of Today, she and Kotb were discussing how “hot” it is to see a man reading in public.
“I mean, if they’re reading something I respect, that could be grounds for an affair,” Bush Hager told Kotb. She then began to walk back her comment, clarifying to the audience, “I’m just kidding, I would never do that. I would never. Henry and I are very happy. And he reads.”
“He does read,” Kotb agreed, before asking her co-host, “Why are you [getting] defensive?”
“Because I shouldn’t have said that, I went too far,” Bush Hager replied. Yikes!
