Diane Cliento visits Jamaica for the first time

Diane Cliento took time from her busy schedule to visit Jamaica ahead of the filming of White Witch of Rosehall. The actress was welcomed by stakeholders in the tourism industry.

Actress comes to observe setting for ‘White Witch of Rosehall’

Diane Cliento, the British actress and wife of Sean Conery of James Bond fame, arrived here this evening from London. She will stay at the Bay Roc Hotel for a few days, returning to London Tuesday, February 14.

Accompanying Miss Cilento were Mr Derek Prouse, Sunday Times dramatic critic and writer of the script of “The White Witch of Rose Hall,” the picture in which Miss Cilento will play the leading role; and Mr Christopher Plackwell, who promoted Millie Small’s rise to fame in the entertainment world.

Among those who were at the airport to meet Miss Cilento were Mr and Mrs John Rollins, Mr Desmond Morris; general manager of “Rollins Jamaica” (the parent company of the Rollins interests in Jamaica and his wife; and Mr Douglas Burke, manager of the Jamaica Tourist Board on the north coast.

Miss Cilento has just completed a picture for the 20th Century Fox called “Hombre”, which is due for release soon.

She said that this was her first visit to Jamaica and that she had come to acquaint herself with the setting and background for the story to be filmed here.

The actual shooting for “The White Witch of Rose Hall” will not start until the spring.

Miss Cilento said she would be busy looking for a new house in London before returning to Jamaica to work on the film.
