DeWitt High School Reviews
Rating 3.7 out of 5 183 reviews
DeWitt High School is best known for its athletics-based events and such, having a fair array of sports teams that have cushy budgets for just about anything they like. However, there has been a very obvious bias in the treatment of students, that is in favor of students on sports teams. Although the arts departments are reasonable and the teachers are delightful, they are not what they could be for various reasons such as a lack of funding and a lack of general support from some individuals. The students are rather crude and are mildly inept, there are a fair amount of amicable people to balance that out. As mentioned previously, the sports teams, the football team in particular, are treated far better than the rest of the students, being given permissions and excuses that no other students get. They can do and say whatever they want without repercussions and students who stand up to them risk being sought out and persecuted by a particular admin who is strongly disliked.
I think that there are a lot of great opportunities at DeWitt High School, however the teachers aren't always at their best. I feel that some of the teachers take the "easy way out" of teaching, and do what most benefits them. I would like for the teachers to connect more with the students and figure out the ways that the students best learn instead of thinking what can be the easiest way for the teacher to teach.
DeWitt High School has some amazing teachers who try their hardest to ensure they've learned something when a student leaves their classroom. Which is difficult due to the lack of resources and money the faculty is given. This is not to say the teachers are lacking in money, cause they aren't, but the distribution of money to each department speaks for itself. The sports departments consistently have their pockets filled and treated with the utmost respect, however, the majority of the other departments get the shorter end of the stick. Overall, the school is good enough, but the favoritism of the community to the school and the facility to students is truly apparent.
