The teachers are generally very devoted and experienced in their subjects. Classrooms are modern and have up to date equipment. However, the student body has a tendency to be very unruly, with multiple fights occurring almost every day. Additionally, the administration never seems to correctly solve the problem and only introduces new rules and policies for the illusion of safety, which often backfire and end up ultimately preventing other students from properly learning. Overall, though frequently mismanaged, the school has state of the art academic and athletic programs which set most students up for success after graduation.
I have been in this school for 4 years now, they offer many activities in the school. The best experience I have so far is the teachers. The teachers I have had are kind and easy going, they will interact with the students and make the classroom even fun. And there can be other staff members most students don't like but overall is good. Some worst parts of my experience is whenever when using the restroom, we have a passing period but many people go and use the restroom during that time. The problem is that affects students tardiness and should fix this situation. What I would like to see a change if also the school supporting the music program, I feel the music program should be balanced out with sports too because they put out so much effort to play and perform for other sports but don't recognized by their actions.
dekalb is a ok school it has some good quality and bad quality as in the school i was before did not have everything this school had some of my favorite class as in photography and bussiness law and foods was ok bu the classes that sucked was math and a littile bit of spanish but what really sucked was the grading system and the retake poilcy are trying to change class so you wont fail other then that it was pretty good, rules did change such as we had no backpacks no purse were lanyards special check in.
