Who Was Darren McGavin?
McGavin was an actor known for appearing in the movies Kolcgak: The Night Stalker and Christmas Story.
A dropout from the University of Pacific, McGavin had been a painter on movie sets for Columbia Pictures, before he began starring in Broadway productions in 1954.
McGavin later studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse and the Actors Studio.

He appeared in My Three Angels and The Rainmaker, The Man with the Golden Arm and many more.
On television, McGavin starred in Mike Hammer (1958–1959), Riverboat (1959–1961) and Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974–1975).
Other films in which he appeared include Airport ’77 (1977), Hot Lead and Cold Feet (1978), A Christmas Story (1983), Happy Hell Night (1992), and Billy Madison (1995).
The actor was a winner of a CableACE Award and received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 1990.
McGavin died of natural causes on February 25, 2006, in a hospital in Los Angeles. He was aged 83, and was buried at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
McGavin had battled a cardiovascular disease before his demise.
McGavin was married three times in his lifetime, and had four children.
