What exactly is Deep 2003 that just dropped?

Questions

Thinking I can safely assume it’s just a compilation of live tracks recorded in 2003 but thought I’d check here to see if it was anything different eg a particular live concert, or songs fans have voted were the best from that year? Etc…. Anyway - I playing it loud now and loving it.

In my opinion they were at their best musically playing live from 2000-2006.

I don’t know, 1998 was pretty damn good

1998?

The first half of the year was the last of the Jack Irons shows. The second half of the year was the first Matt Shows where he hadn't learned the parts yet and the drums were all over the place. 1998 is one of the last years I would pick as a good year.

That’s crazy talk

Saw them twice in 1998 (June and September) and those are probably the two worst shows of my dozen. It took Matt time to learn the songs and he wasn’t afforded that due to his schedule and when he came in.

The gorge shows obsession I have agrees … always said 05 and 06 shows but the 00-06 tours they always sound so effortlessly awesome.

I wonder if we could quantify this with some choice samples of popular songs …. Blood, porch, brain of j, better man tags …. (Joking)… but there are some gems in those tours of songs where you realize it was such an impressive live performance. Love reign over me was another jaw dropper.

None of those songs are even my faves but I am a huge fan of Ed Veds voice pushing it to the limits.

Benaroya 03 and Japan 03 definitely stand out to me as especially silky smooth and I’ve had those gorge shows on repeat for like ten years now.

Japan 03…what a special run.

That 2/28 Sendai show is simply incredible. Venue seems small based on audio and show seems more acoustic oriented. Reminds me of Benaroya 2000.

It's weird, I became a fan around 04 and my first shows were 06. Band was awesome in 06 but I always envy 03 and 00 shows as if that was truly at their best. I felt like they didn't jam the same way in 06 or something or Im just biased and putting shows before my fandom on a pedestal.

100% agree.

They sounded amazing during the Riot Act tour (2003), but I can tell you they were equally awesome when I saw them a few times in 1996 and those who were lucky enough to see shows w DA behind the kit...look out.

Anybody know which shows songs are taken from?

Deep is a music festival/venue in Kentucky they performed there in 2003 it’s all live performances from that festival
