- RudySzymonChicago, IL858 contributionsRelatively to the age, the castle is in good shape. Especially from the shore side.
A few parts of this castle are closed, including the tower and housing area.Written February 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fran OScotts Valley, California51 contributionsA very well done museum combined with a walk out to the church and the pillar well worth your time. In mid May we were the only ones there. There is no cost to browse the museum or walk the area. Church dome is a must see.Written May 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vladimir B23 contributionsPerfect day on a beach. Adel is a great and warm person that goes out of her way to make her guests happy. Her driver Anthony is a perfect gentleman too. - ZoranSTECakovec, Croatia160 contributionsWe were lucky enough to visit this beautiful church during Mass at the very time when Madonna was brought in the night before in a procession from Crotone. This usually only happens once a year, so we really hit the right time to travel.
Anyway, with the surrounding attractions worth a visit.Written May 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Half an hour before closing the alarm was actuated about three times, so I couldn't figure out when it was actually the time to get out. Unpleasant, like air raid sound. What's the point? The total number of visitors at this hour was may be seven plus two dogs.Written June 19, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fran OScotts Valley, California51 contributionsThe Colonna is worth a visit. The walk to it and the setting are worth it alone but stop in the archeological museum. It’s free and a gem of information.Written May 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anna MProvince of Turin, Italy50 contributionsThis is perhaps the most beautiful waterfront/promenade in the world. Full of colors and of nice places to eat and drink at all times of the day.
From late spring to early autumn you can just jump into the sea if you're feeling hot and you won't be disappointed by the cleanness of the sea even in the city center. In the winter, you can enjoy walking either on the beach with your feet in or outside the water, or on the promenade itself. Tip: don't forget to bring your swimming costume with you, in any season, just in case! The weather is always pretty mild except for a few days in the year.
Unlike many touristic promenades (even in other parts of Italy), here most of the pizza restaurants, restaurants and bars are not "touristic": excellent food and drinks that are normally enjoyed by locals, at more-than-affordable prices. Among others, you will find two prize-winning pizzerias (Lievito Madre and Cos e Pazz'), a little kiosk-bar that sells pastry-shop croissants and krapfens in summer mornings and excellent spritz cocktails with orange or lemon shaved ice (Exodus), an incredibly good and cheap "tavola calda" that sells tasty "arancini" from the evening on (Mamma Mia), and many, many others.
At one end of the promenade, you will find the Lega Navale where many locals' boats. From here you can enjoy beautiful views of the city and the statue of a famous Italian singer-songwriter, Rino Gaetano, who was born in Crotone.
If you come by car and it's a busy time of the day (usually evenings and weekends) you can park in the touristic (not the commercial) port parking. Otherwise, there is a lot of parking space in the streets behind the promenade itself.
Oh, and don't forget to enjoy the sunrise from here, maybe with a nice cup of Guglielmo coffee!
