Back to the movies. My wife and I watched each movie in order over several days. What can I say but these were a definite blast from the past, having taken my young son to see all of them when they came out originally. I won’t comment upon the movies themselves, as everyone sees movies differently with their own eyes.
What I can say is that the movies themselves on 4K UHD discs is that they are a significant upgrade upon the Blue Ray versions, with much brighter HDR presentation, and the sound really pushed my Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar, although I noted the first movies were only in 5.1 DTS-HD, and it’s a shame that they didn’t upgrade it to either DTS:X or even Dolby Atmos.
If your passion is for a bespectacled young wizard’s life at a magical school for wizards and witches, then this is a must-buy purchase. I certainly value this boxset as part of my favourite set of movies.
humble beginnings reportedly taking six years to write The Philosophers Stone on an ancient
typewriter struggled to get the book published, the rest as they say is history, she became the
bestselling author of all time with her imaginative creation of the magical fantasy series Harry Potter (Seven Books-Eight Movies) ....almost a rags-to-riches journey..
Remember taking my youngest a few times down to the local 24-hour store to buy the midnight
release of the books, and of course the Cinema as the films were, released
Many seem to suggest that the 4k upgrade is indeed weak especially in the earlier releases, I
have just completed viewing the series (over the past 6/7 days) and unlike some, impressed
throughout, especially during the special-effects sequences of the the early ones.
The story filmed over around 10 years tells of orphan Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe),as a baby is left to be brought up by a reluctant Aunt and Uncle who only show interest in their glutenous
son, treating Harry as, at best a second-class citizen, in fact, Harry's room was the cupboard under the stairs.
Harry during his first 11 years knew nothing of who he was or indeed who his parents were, however, that was about to change when despite his uncle trying to keep a schooling invite from Harry, a hoard of Owls delivering the same invite ensured that he eventually did, around that time Harry meets the uninvited Hogwarts game-keeper Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) who does tell Harry more perhaps than he was supposed to.....Hagrid was to become a dear friend and indeed mentor and would teach Harry much over the next few years, but, right now introduces the youngster to a secret Wizards shopping mall where Harry would need to buy the books etc he needed at Hogwarts and indeed his first wand, but, he has no money, but will learn at the bank his father has left him well provided for.
At the Mall, Harry is surprised to learn that he is indeed well known and in fact famous, seems everyone knows more than he does.
Off to Hogwarts on the school's train which can only be caught by using platform Nine and 3/4's.
On the train he shares a compartment with Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) a cautious person who follows one step behind as will become obvious, Harry will also meet up with Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) who is always it seems as will prove to be the case, one step ahead and pretty handy
with her wand, both will become friends for life and always no-matter what by Harry's side when needed.
Harry had with i the company of Hagrid seen many wonders he'd previously known nothing of, even learning himself to be a Wizard though down the years strange unexplainable things had occurred.
When arriving at Hogwarts he again finds everybody knows who he is, and he was the ''one that had survived''
Many of the schools tutors that had known Harry's parents will help him learn of the powers that he has including Hogwarts Head, Albus Dumbledore: (Michael Gambon who after the first two films had replaced the late Richard Harris)
Dumbledore took Harry under his wing some.
Among the Tutors Professor Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) the mysterious and seemingly stern teacher who through the years Harry would be wary of despite knowing that Dumbledore had much faith in Snape, would Harry's doubts be proved right?
Harry becomes a popular student in fact a leader except to Malfoy (Tom Felton) an ongoing adversary and would embark on many dangerous tasks with his close friends never far away he also competed in challenges and house/school games such as Quidditch which he proved to be very good at.
Harry leans much about his parents and how they had died at the hands of the evil and powerful Wizard Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) who has until now been in obscurity but with the emergence of Harry at Hogwarts is striving to regain both his Presence and considerable powers in the hope of finishing what he'd started years before by killing Harry.
Harry will have to have m\mastered and harnessed all the powers he has if he is to avenge the parents. he'd not known.
A showdown inevitable.
A superb series to watch or re-watch on whatever format you can, though, if you can, I do recommend the 4k.
#FOOTNOTE -
With young viewers in mind, be aware that several episodes more-so later-ones, are very dark
It came with behind the scenes dvds, the movies, a pin, cards with the main casts' info, a ticket to Hogwarts.
Very nice as a gift but the carton the train is made out of is a bit on the fragile side. The "wallpaper" on it was already slightly peeling on one side.
Top reviews from other countries
I recently finished the 8 movies and just wanted more to watch.
Ive been reading about this 8 part documentary series, which I knew I needed to see haha.
The box arrived one day earlier then expected, with was really nice. No package damaging or something, everything was completely fine. The box has this awesome sleeve which reveals the second cover design.
When I checked out the dvd's in my blu-ray player I was shocked.
THERE IS SO MUCH EXTRA STUFF ON THESE BLU-RAY DISCS! OMG!
As I am a filmmaker myself I love watching how they make movies like these.
The documentary serie is amazing, so much detail. But there is way more than that.
The last movies has a feature called 'Maximum movie mode' which provides you with behind the scenes story's while you are watching the film, just amazing.
The art work of the dvd's are really nice. I am not a really big fan of the cardboard sleeves that the dvd's are in, but it does the job.
If you are still thinking about buying this boxset, you definitely should!
(I am dutch, so my English may be odd sometimes hahaha but I'm sure you get me)
