----- and I knew Don Costa's name right away too. He may have been the greatest, most in-demand arranger back in the day, because I saw his name associated so often with Sinatra and his recordings. I figured when Ava left Frank the next person he ran into was Costa, because so MANY of the "theme" or "mood" albums coming from Ol' Blue Eyes after that were all devoted to broken hearts and lost love. Now I won't knock this compilation CD collection of the albums THE QUEEN recorded with Costa, I mean, she is still the Queen, even if only her voice remains with us 60 years later, because her VOICE and her STYLE were the most distinctive musical instruments of the 20th Century. And not every number on here is completely low key and "softly romantic." But hey, we all need to hear ALL of Dinah ------ because there was magic in every sound she uttered. And you will find it in Don Costa's musical arrangements too! (P-S Advice: Don't know how much you can afford, but if you want to own all the real CLASSICS by Dinah Washington ----- just see if you can get your hands on Volumes 6 & 7 of "The Complete Dinah Washington on Mercury.") But remember, it's ALL magical !
