The well-documented Davis pugnacity and anti-white attitude may have been partly a device to shake things up in his bands, but shafting Evans and Vinson on general credit and composing royalties is just cold; inexcusable. Imagine a Miles as mellow as Mr. Cobb, who's always seemed--as he does in your fine interview--one of the great gentlemen of Jazz... would Kind of Blue have gone south?
