One last ditch attempt to revive Ten? 10 Play launches 13 new FREE streaming channels - and here's the list of TV shows on offer

Network 10 launched 13 new channels on Friday.

Available to viewers on Channel 10's 10Play platform, the new services are FAST channels - Free Ad-Supported Streaming.

The FAST channels appear to be a last ditch effort to revive flagging interest in the 10 brand, after the network suffered its worst year ever.

The channel has plunged behind the ABC as Australia's fourth most-watched free-to-air network.

TV Blackbox reports that each of 10's new FAST channels will be dedicated to a show or style or genre - where fans can tune in and binge on their favourite content.

The new channels have been made possible in a deal between Channel 10 and distributors Banijay Rights, Fremantle and Lionsgate.

US drama Baywatch, Aussie 80's soap Prisoner, and US reality hit Wicked Tuna, each have a single channel dedicated to them.

Meanwhile, franchise FAST channels include Survivor (Australia, New Zealand and South Africa), MasterChef (Australia and US) and Total Wipeout (UK, Australia, Canada).

Among the genre channels is an Action and Adventure destination when fans can get their fill of shows like Fear Factor, The Island with Bear Grylls, Extreme Fishing and Hardcore Pawns.

Fans of local scripted content can tune into the Aussie Drama FAST channel and see Puberty Blues, Rush, Party Tricks and the Claudia Karvan classic The Secret Life of Us.

There's also a kids channel featuring Paw Patrol, Blaze and Dora the Explorer.

And Lionsgate have provided a dedicated movie channel called Moviesphere.

There is a cartoon channel, featuring the classic Ren and Stimpy series and a True Stories channel, where fans can check out reality series' Nightmare Next Door, Death Row Stories, I Shouldn't Be Alive and Declassified.

Channel 10 also announced it would launching three more FAST channels for 10Play from December 12.

These will be a channel dedicated to Merlin, The Challenge (US) and The Shores: Geordie Shore.

It comes after Channel 10 has suffered a disastrous year in the ratings combined with a series of high profile exits from their top talent.

Since October, 10's flagship current affairs program The Project has seen Carrie Bickmore, Lisa Wilkinson, and Peter Helliar all resign.

Meanwhile, franchise FAST channels include Survivor (Australia, New Zealand and South Africa), MasterChef (Australia, pictured and US) and Total Wipeout (UK, Australia, Canada).

The network's investment in reality television has also been a blow-out in 2022, with both new and old shows tanking in the ratings. Three hyped new shows - The Challenge, The Real Love Boat and The Traitors all flopped.

Even worse was 10 News First: Breakfast, which recently set a new record for the worst-rated program in Australian TV history.

However, the network did produce a few reality TV hits thanks to Australian Survivor, The Masked Singer Australia and Hunted.
