Everyone's Crushing Reporter For His 'Apology' To Caitlin Clark

During Caitlin Clark's introductory press conference with the Indiana Fever, columnist Gregg Doyel of The Indianapolis Star went viral for his inappropriate behavior.

Doyel made a heart gesture towards Clark instead of simply asking a question. The NCAA's all-time leading scorer replied, "I do that at my family after every game."

Instead of moving on, Doyel made things worse by saying, "Start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine."

Sports fans around the world crushed Doyel for his "creepy" behavior. That led to him writing a column about his interaction with Clark.

"I’m devastated to realize I’m part of the problem," Doyel wrote. "I screwed up Wednesday during my first interaction with No. 1 overall draft pick Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever."

Fans aren't expecting this apology from Doyel. If anything, they believe it's an attempt to get more clicks for The Indianapolis Star.

"He’s been unprofessional for YEARS & not only does he get away with it, he gets rewarded," Sage Steele said. "Unprofessional, Inappropriate, unfair, judgmental..just do your job & stop trying to be funny. This 'man' is another example of why no one trusts the media anymore. @indystar - do better."

"Incredible dedication to making this worse," one person said.

Another person replied, "Nothing says 'I'm sorry' more than making people read your column for clicks. Dude, resign."

"Under no circumstances whatsoever should anybody click this link and give him exactly what he wants," a third person commented.

Clark has not yet commented on her weird interaction with Doyel. We don't blame her if she wants to completely move past it.

That being said, Doyel's behavior can't be tolerated. There's no place for that in women's sports.
