Stanotte al Dolby Theatre di Los Angeles si è tenuta la cerimonia della 96esima edizione degli Oscar e non ci sono state grosse sorprese. Come da pronostico, ha trionfato Oppenheimer vincendo il premio per il miglior film.
La pellicola di Christopher Nolan porta a casa ben sette statuette, tra cui quelle per la miglior regia, al miglior attore protagonista a Cillian Murphy (peccato per Giamatti) e al miglior attore non protagonista a Robert Downey Jr..
La favorita Lily Gladstone per Killers of the Flower Moon è stata superata da Emma Stone come miglior attrice protagonista per la sua straordinaria interpretazione di Bella Baxter in Povere creature!.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph ha trionfato come miglior attrice non protagonista per The Holdovers, mentre Anatomia di una caduta (il border collie Messi è stata la mascotte della serata) e American Fiction (in streaming su Prime Video) si sono aggiudicati rispettivamente i premi per la miglior sceneggiatura originale e non originale.
Oppenheimer ha dominato anche le categorie tecniche, vincendo per il montaggio, la fotografia e la colonna sonora, mentre Povere creature! ha conquistato i premi per i costumi (John Cena si è presentato nudo sul palco coperto solo dalla busta del vincitore), il trucco e la scenografia.
La zona d’interesse di Jonathan Glazer ha ottenuto il premio per il miglior film internazionale e i migliori effetti sonori (superando Io capitano di Matteo Garrone), mentre Il ragazzo e l’airone di Hayao Miyazaki ha vinto nella categoria miglior film d’animazione. 20 Days in Mariupol ha vinto il premio per il miglior documentario. Godzilla Minus One ha conquistato la statuetta per i migliori effetti speciali, nonostante un budget da appena 15 milioni di dollari, superando la concorrenza di blockbuster come The Creator, Guardiani della Galassia Vol. 3, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One e Napoleon.
Infine, Billie Eilish e il fratello Finneas O’Connell hanno vinto il premio per la miglior canzone con What Was I Made For?, presente nella colonna sonora di Barbie. I grandi delusi di questa edizione sono sicuramente Martin Scorsese con Killers of the Flower Moon (10 nomination) e Bradley Cooper con Maestro (7 candidature) che tornano a casa a mani vuote.
LO SPETTACOLO MUSICALE
Tra i momenti più memorabili Ryan Gosling in completo rosa si è esibito in I’m Just Ken, uno dei due brani di Barbie candidati per la miglior canzone originale. Billie Elish commuove tutti cantando What was I made for?, l’altro brano presente nel film di Greta Gerwig, accompagnata al pianoforte dal fratello Finneas O’Connell.
Andrea e Matteo Bocelli hanno eseguito Time to Say Goodbye (Con te partirò) per l’In Memoriam, l’omaggio agli artisti del cinema scomparsi nell’ultimo anno. La clip è stata introdotta da un ricordo di Alexei Navalny, l’oppositore politico di Putin deceduto lo scorso 16 febbraio in una prigione russa.
