Heiress has bottom reshaped

As the world's wealthiest teenager she can buy virtually any designer wardrobe, sportscar or exquisite item of jewellery she desires.

But only a month after inheriting the first part of her £1.2 billion fortune, it appears that Athina Onassis, 18, has opted to purchase something a little more personal - the perfect body.

Not satisfied with her traditional Greek "pear shape" figure, the daughter of Christina Onassis has reportedly undergone cosmetic surgery at a private clinic in Brazil to reduce the size of her posterior.

Miss Onassis, granddaughter of the late shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis, was spotted leaving the St Luke Medical Centre wearing a baggy checked shirt and jogging bottoms and looking pale and weary earlier this week.

She was accompanied by her Brazilian showjumper boyfriend Alvaro Alfonso de Miranda Neto, nicknamed Doda, and three security guards -one of them imported from Belgium where the couple live.

It is believed the teenager checked herself into the clinic in the morning for a lipo-sculpture operation which involved removing excess fat from her abdomen and bottom.

The four-hour procedure was reportedly carried out by Dr Ricardo Lemos, 43, who said: "It is a very delicate question and ethically I cannot comment on it."

Miss Onassis was seen leaving the clinic on Tuesday afternoon via the building's garage and then made her way to the Hotel Unique where she is staying with Doda before the couple depart for Angra dos Reis, off the coast of Rio, at the weekend. She wore no make-up and her hair was uncombed - a far cry from the picture of the glamorous teenager taken only two days before during a shopping trip. Athina, who bears a striking resemblance to her mother, received £600 million on her 18th birthday and will receive another £600 million in two years' time.

Athina's parents met in 1984 when, after three failed marriages and disastrous love affairs, Christina set her sights on playboy Thierry Roussel, the impecunious grandson of a French pharmaceutical magnate. She met Roussel at a party and invited him to spend the weekend with her in St Moritz. He said he would - but only if she lost a lot of weight. Her nicknames have included "The Greek Tanker" and "thunder-thighs".

It has been suggested by the Brazilian press that Athina may have undergone cosmetic surgery in an effort to keep her boyfriend at her side. In past interviews with British tabloids, Doda's ex, Sibele Dorsa, 26, a model and singer, said the horseman would not tolerate excess fat in his girlfriends and claimed Doda once called Athina an elephant.
