Central High School Reviews

Some of the best experiences I had at Central were, being in the art , science, healthcare, and math classes. The teachers in all theses courses, are very caring, and clearly create an environment so they can see their students succeed. As for changes I would really like it if the school and its counselors would better communicate about events, changes in school schedule, courses, etc. For example the beginning of my senior year, Central introduced a new class called pharmacy tech and I had never heard about it until it was too late. It’s unfortunately something I regret not taking. I would also appreciate if Central didn’t force seniors to take 6/7classes. At most the seniors need to take 5 classes and so adding more classes on top of what we need to take to graduate is unnecessary and a waste of time. Central needs to allow seniors to have more off hours so we can work jobs and enjoy time off with our families and friends during our last year. Overall i had a decent four years here.
During my senior year at Central high school, I have experienced a lot. The academics and the administration best describes the school, in my opinion. When it comes to academics, Central is the only school in Wyoming with an AP Capstone program in which students conduct their own research project and learn how to do so. On top of the program, in order to receive the diploma, students must take AND pass four additional AP classes throughout their high school career. However, the administration lacks heavily in communication which derives students and teachers to participate and plan activities and events throughout the year. Without checking their email, things do not get approved and cannot occur.
I had some really great teachers while in high school. My math teach was the same person all four years and she made her classroom a safe space for all her students and her class was fun even though I was in advanced math. I also had other fantastic teachers the whole time I was there except for one. I can really blame her she was teaching a new class because the old teacher retired so we were her guinea pig class which wasn’t great. She also taught science which isn’t really something I enjoy so that could have been part of why I disliked her class so much. Regardless of how much I liked my teachers they did a great job preparing me to AP tests so I could skip some general college courses to save money. My school was really great, overall I had a great experience.
