2019 Chevrolet Cruze review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze?

The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car available in sedan and hatchback body styles. A 153-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder gas engine is standard, and a 137-hp, turbo-diesel 1.6-liter engine is available. A six-speed automatic is standard with the gas engine and a nine-speed automatic works with the diesel. The Cruze competes with the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra and Toyota Corolla.

What’s New on the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze?

The front end has a new look with a larger grille and new headlamps. A six-speed manual transmission is no longer offered with the Cruze's gas or diesel engine. The new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 multimedia system is standard and comes with a 7-inch touchscreen.

What Features in the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze Are Most Important?

Standard equipment includes 4G LTE internet access with a Wi-Fi hot spot (data trial included) and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity. Though interest in diesels is minimal these days, those who want higher fuel economy have that option. A backup camera is standard, but forward collision alert and low-speed automatic emergency braking is available only on the high-end Premier trim level.

Should I Buy the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze?

The Cruze offers a choice of body styles and gas or diesel engines, and it comes with standard multimedia features many buyers desire. Rivals such as the Honda Civic and Kia Forte offer more safety features on lower-priced versions and better overall value. The Cruze is worth a look but shop the competition before buying.

Fantastic cars

So far this 2019 Cruze I just bought 2 weeks ago, everything is great , nice body style, great on gas, I had a 2007 Chev Cobalt that my brother bought from me ,that has more pickup cause of it being a larger engine 2.2, but thats the only difference. I have always owned GM, I tried out a 2020 Elandtra andv the quality is much better with the Cruze. My brother will probably have the 2007 Cobalt for a while since it has only 166470km on it These cares are fantastic Cruze or Cobalt and would recommend either to anyone, but get it Crown sprayed on the bottom cause these cars are all bad for rocker panel rotting out. If you Oil yearly, these cars will last for yearsand I mean 15-20 plus years if taken care of

Awesome car in every way!

I had a 2016 Cruze that I loved, but it was totaled last winter. I was broadsided on the driver's side and had minimal injuries thanks to the sturdy build of the car. I now have a 2019 Cruze. I love it! It's comfy and gets great gas mileage! I don't understand why they quit making them.

Quiet and solid

This car has a very nice look, great color and rides very quiet. My wife really enjoys driving this car. For a small engine that is turbo charged gives it enough pick up for our type of driving.
