Top ways to experience Chelsea and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Knightsbridge
When millions of tourists want to shop 'til they drop, they do it along Brompton Road and its boutique-lined tributaries, including the world-renowned Harrods. And when millionaires want to flaunt what they've already got, many of them find Knightsbridge and Belgravia the perfect place to do so, often behind stately mansion walls or down quiet private mews. Delve beyond the ultra-luxe exterior and you'll find some of this city's cosiest pubs, quiet gardens, and all sorts of indie retailers and enterprises worth a short exercise in spontaneous window shopping. For those looking to take a break from shopping, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and some of the city's most popular museums are nearby.
How to get there
  • Knightsbridge • 3 min walk
  • Hyde Park Corner • 9 min walk

Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The area of Chelsea in west London is quite exclusive. It is a very posh area and this is reflected in the stores and the property prices.

It is served by the Tube at stations like Sloane Square where there are lots of exclusive boutiques and bars.

Sadly alot of it is out of my price range but if you have money to spend you may want to visit.

Affluent, sophisticated and easy on the eye, Chelsea is a pretty area of London near to Hyde Park, South Kensington and Knightsbridge. It’s widely known as one of London’s safest and most desirable places to live. We stayed at a hotel off Bayswater, one street from Hyde Park and surrounded by large and glamorous town houses. A lovely experience.

Kings Rd used to be the centre of fashion. But high rents have squeezed out the creatives, and only the large retail outlets remain.

Kings Rd itself has become quite dangerous, with constant traffic, and angry motorists endangering cyclists and pedestrians.

The ambience of Kings Rd has been reduced to the ambience of a traffic jam full of angry people - hardly worth visiting.

Women walking along Kings rd, look poker faced and either hostile or depressed - having put their finest clothes on only to be eclipsed by the constant deluge of traffic.

Many women come here looking for Mr Right (someone rich), yet all they find is noise, and the grinding traffic. Arabs find themselves pinned in between lorries and vans - unable to show off their Ferraris - simply another muted cog in a giant traffic jam.

I cannot describe Kings Rd as relaxing at all. It is just an overcrowded road - far, far too overcrowded with vehicles.

Kings Rd should be made completely traffic free, because the traffic is destroying the experience - and whats left is not worth visiting.

Councils should be encouraging creative new businesses instead of hiking rents so high that only giant retail outlets can afford them.

In summary, Kings Rd is no longer the centre of fashion. The greed of landlords and Councils has driven away creatives, and the road is simply a money grinding machine.

The complete absence of town planning has resulted in traffic deluging the area
and destroying any remnants of peace or tranquility - the constant noise, and smell of exhaust making the ambience stressful, hostile to cyclists and too dangerous for pedestrians crossing the road.

Chelsea has long been considered one of the most desirable areas of London in which to live. With a central London location, great shops, and lively nightlife, it's an ideal place for anyone looking to experience the London lifestyle to the full.
