Always top of my list when I visit LA. It is magical. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but worth it, I think. The atmosphere is beautifully romantic , the service top-notch, and the food delicious. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

Still the classiest place in Hollywood for brunch, in the semi-open courtyard garden. Food outstanding, and with prices to match, but who cares when you're in a place like this. Service, on the day I went, was a little slow, but it's all forgivable, given...the circs. No visit to Los Angeles is complete without dropping in on this place.More

Although it is pretty sitting outside, both the food and service were average. An 18$ mimosa ? Really ? Bring your $$$$. Another thing, people had dogs (who were fighting), someone had their cat, there was a screaming kid, not really what I expected from...a place with this reputation. An odd mix indeed.More

If you like canned tuna, you will still be disappointed the $28 Nicoise Salad. Apart from the canned tuna, the rest of the salad was as tired and uninterested as the waiting staff. Valet parking was awesome.

Being in the top 2% of Trip Advisor reviewers I feel I am accurate and insightful. I tend to write reviews that are positive from positive experiences on my travels. Unfortunately, not every experience is great. I waited a few days to calm down to...write this because I really had to get over how badly I was treated at Chateau Marmont upon arrival. I was there to visit a long time friend and his business associate for a drink on the Terrace and we were to go off to a concert after. After a 30 minute Lyft ride to the hotel, I was greeted and interrogated at the valet stand by on overly Coco Chanelled door person with a list in her hand. Explaining who I was there to see and showing her their text messages on my phone and that they were up on the Terrace she called and after talking, said I could not go up to join my group. Asking why, she said they were not there or on her list so I could not go up. I showed my phone to her again. Then her attitude kicked in and she became more combative. Other valets just watched her. She wanted to get into it with me. I just waited at the wall and called my friends to come down. They both came down from the Terrace and tried to humor me. We got the car from the valet and left. So I warn you, while it seems like a great place (and I have been before and it is nice on the Terrace), it is the people that make a place great or terrible. This hotel chooses to be one that does not welcome guests, but interrogates them. I always thought the hotel business was the "Hospitality" business, but I found 0 hospitality at Chateau Marmont. You too might find the same.More

My wife and I went to the Marmont to meet friends and enjoy a dinner, what a mistake. The staff was rude, everyone of them. They automatically add 15 % service charge to your meal, and when we didn't add an additinal tip the waiter...scolded us.What a jerk. We were staying at another W Hollywood hotel and were glad we didn't book the Marmont. The location is a hit or miss, depend what you are doing in Hollywood.More

I recently visited the place for drinks and dinner but was quite shocked as the Lauren at the entrance was quite rude and arrogant. She said there is a private event going on and I can't enter without reservations. I said even if I want...to go to the bar she said yes. So I walked out and called the hotel and made reservations through Laura in the restaurant. Laura even said that I am informing the front door so that you have no problems. So I walked back and told the guy at the front door about my reservations so he checked in the system and found my name but then the other guy who had seen me earlier said Lauren doesn't want him in. So this guy went to check with Lauren who came up to me and said you should have left the property and shouldn't be here. She then called Christian, designated head of security, who again checked the system but asked me to leave. I had no interest left and decided to leave but it was very strange and rude since I did not even know the reason? All the staff at the front door were so rude and impolite.I have never seen this kind of arrogance in my last nearly 30 years of travel and will advice travellers to go there at their own risk of self respect.More

it was a first time going there and did not know that I had to make reservation. was treated very poorly and I am very disappointed will never go there again there are many places that will treat you with respect and show you good...time. don't even bother asking for a manager because he's worse than whole staff.if you are a supervisor for that hotel and reading this please check your staff.More

I was thrilled to get the chance to go for a quick bite and cocktails at such an old hollywood institution. We were seated relatively swiftly inside, where it was freezing, we asked to have the air turned down, our server said he would check...on this, yet we never heard back. We ordered cocktails, which took 45 mins to arrive AFTER we'd eaten, this was apparently due to a 'new system' at the bar. To be completely honest the guy serving us seemed like he was on drugs, asking the same questions twice, forgetting things and slurring his words. I expected the place to be perfect, but there were wires, and unused extension cords all over the place. To top it all off, after we finished we wandered outside to look of somewhere to smoke, but we were shouted down by the hostess before we managed to leave the top step to outside, "Where do you think you're going" she exclaimed, literally speaking to us like dirt on the floor, which considering we'd just spent $150 on cocktails & snacks wasn't appropriate. She then continued in her unprofessional manner to direct us elsewhere, I'm not sure if she thought we'd wandered in off the street, or if she was just rude, but I've never been spoken to in such a manner. So much so that I enquired as to her name from our doped up server, it was Grace - How ironic, as she was one of the most graceless women I've ever happened upon. A huge disappointment, and what I consider to be an embarrassment for such a reputable establishment.More

We were a group of 5 friends visiting from London, wanted a nice meal with a bit of potential star spotting. Had booked the table through our hotel. When we arrived, we were told all tables outside were booked and that we could sit inside...until something became available. So we did. We waited and waited with drinks and nibbles on a lone table inside on a corner (NO other people were sitting inside FYI) so we started to complain. The maitre d' (a tall blonde who clearly failed in the modelling and acting industry) said we could sit in the middle section of the room in the meantime. We agreed as it was at least a bit busier than our lone corner! What we didn't realise is that she wanted us to EAT there - I.e spend our money eating in a lobby-like area on a coffee table. We all thought 'ain't gonna happen'. We ordered drinks, told her if we didnt have a table in the next 5 minutes, we would leave. So she got a bit nervous and finally gave us a table. At that point we were so frustrated with the whole situation (we had probably been waiting and hour and a half) that we decided to leave and go to the W hotel (a million times better service!). So chateau marmont, please get rid of your rude and incompetent staff. Many thanks!More

Had brunch at their famed coffee shop. What a horrible experience. The staff was pretentious, the waiters forgot half my order and the bread basket was wrapped in a napkin that had lipstick on it - when we told the waiters hey comped the toast...- they didn't even apologize. I just think they are 'over it' in terms of service - truly not a place to go when in Los Angeles. Don't go.More

Crowded, pretentious, and a staff with an awful attitude. If you want to be surrounded by people trying to get noticed, then this is your place. However, I do love the history, and architecture of the building, but that's it. The building and the grounds...are beautiful. It was fashioned after the Château at Amboise is a château located in Amboise, the Loire Valley in France. You can feel the late 1920's, early 1930's vib. It was originally built to be an exclusive apartment house. It opened in 1929. Then during the depression, it was sold, and turned into a hotel. Today, it is a hotel with awful service. Parking is horrible. There is a small driveway, in which, is used for entering and exiting. On top of that, the valet is rude and barely speaks English.. Expect to wait sometime for your car too. The food is OK. But, the staff is snobby and not accommodating. Here is example, of unacceptable behavior of a staff member. Before, I entered the café. I was in their small lobby, awaiting for my guests to arrive. I glance at my phone, for their text, informing me they had arrived. This rude woman promptly walks up to me, and states, that I can't use my phone to take pictures! What?! How dare she just assume I was taking a picture?! At any other time, I would have asked for a manager. But, my guests had just walked in. Then wait till you meet the employees at the reception desk. They were chewing gum, and annoyed that guests were asking them questions! LOL! I really can't think of one reason to recommend this place, other than to appreciate the beauty of the building and landscape is worth viewing. However, their staff needs training in guest service and hospitality. They lack proper etiquette skills.More

We were pretty excited when we got a table for lunch but soon the disappointment set in. Even though we had a reservation we were seated right next to the entrance at a teenytiny table. After taking a look at the menu it became clear...that this place was more expensive than exclusive. I went for the spaghetti bolognese since it seemed like the safest choice but was a little disgusted when a pile of limp noodles already mashed up with "ground meat" and parmesan was set down in front of me. I don't know if it's a european thing but even in the cheapest place they serve the sauce on top of the noodles... The steak sandwich my mother chose also didn't look too appealing and was pretty tasteless. 45 minutes after sitting down we bailed. Don't go there for the food. It is a nice place to sit but nothing special.More

September 2013 - Having been enamoured by the mystique of this hotel for many years and as we were travelling to L.A. for our honeymoon and my 40th, we thought that we would go for dinner which would be a highlight (one of many!) of...the trip. After failing to get a reservation at a decent hour (ended up getting a 6pm reservation - who goes to dinner at 6pm?!?!?) - we thought we would take it anyway just so we can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the evening. How wrong we were...we were told that we had until 8pm to vacate the table and the service was absolutely appalling. We were forgotten about to start with, not even offered drinks and the food itself was just average - not worth money we paid for it...I had a better steak at Saddle Ranch down the road from the Chateau earlier on in the week! In the end we scoffed our food and left, we didnt leave a further tip to the one already automatically added to your bill. I was upset and a disgusted by the treatment and I'm pretty sure that if we had of been 'someone' we would have got better service... I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone apart from the vacuous 'someone's that have money to burn and don't care.More

Huge waste of time! The food was over priced and the drinks were not good. Service was mediocre at best and the chairs in the outdoor dining area had broken straps that stuck in you as you "enjoyed" your over priced breakfast. The entire property...needs an overhall and to pay better attention to its patrons.More
