Obituary
Left this life prematurely but peacefully in his 62nd year, following a brief seven-week hospitalization with cancer.
Survived by his loving little sister, Pamela; Aunt Irene Crisby and her children Charlie (Regina), Paul (Allison), Elizabeth (Rick); Uncle Bruce (Lily) and their children Annette (Val Coates), Kimberley (Ed Frazee), Lori.
Celebrating his arrival to the afterlife were his parents David and Helen, brother-in-law Mike Lantos, Uncle Ches Crisby, Uncle Jacob (Jane) Mercer, and grandparents.
Howard lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his large circle of friends, many of whom he met in his career with the Canadian Coast Guard. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, smirk and twinkle in his eyes, his culinary skills (always preparing enough to feed a ship’s crew), his love of a cup of tea, a drink of scotch and gatherings with family and friends.
Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s on Friday March 24th, 2023 from 2:00pm-7:30pm and Saturday March 25th, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm with a celebration of life held at 2:30pm from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel. The service will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person and a link will be provided on Barrett’s website. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
