A black and white photo taken 13 years ago finally revealed

In the black and white photo, William and Kate pose in a very traditional way. Millie Pilkington was commissioned to take behind-the-scenes photos of the wedding, while Hugo Burnand was the official photographer. Prince William wore his red uniform of the Irish Guards, the regiment of which he was colonel at the time, while Catherine wore a dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. She also wore Cartier’s Halo tiara, created in 1936 for Elizabeth Bowes-, wife of King George VI.

On the occasion of his marriage, Prince William received the title of Duke of Cambridge, accompanied by the subsidiary titles of Earl of Chester and Strathearn, and Baron Carrickfergus. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had three children: Prince George (2013), Princess Charlotte (2015) and Prince Louis (2018). When Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022, Prince William became heir to the throne, behind his father, King Charles III. William automatically obtained the title of Duke of Cornwall, a title reserved for the heir to the throne. King Charles III also shortly afterwards granted him the title of Prince of Wales, a title which is traditionally given to the heir. Now Prince William is Colonel of the Welsh Guard, while the Princess of Wales has become Colonel of the Irish Guards.

This never-before-seen black and white photo shared on the occasion of the 13th wedding anniversary was eagerly awaited. Fans of the British monarchy have been waiting for Kensington Palace to communicate about the anniversary date. Since the announcement of the Princess of Wales’ cancer, the slightest sign from Kensington has provoked a tidal wave of comments on social networks and in the press. In less than an hour, half a million likes were counted on the photo shared by the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
