Davion Gause plowed Chaminade-Madonna (4-0) up the field and into the end zone to take a 35-28 lead.
American Heritage (4-1) drove the ball down field on its next drive but fumbled
inside the 20. From there, the Lions kept it on the ground and forced the Patriots to burn their remaining timeouts.

The win is Chaminade-Madonna’s 15th straight. American Heritage had won nine straight games entering Friday's showdown.

Gause, who has piled up over 200 yards in meetings against American Heritage in 2020 and 2021,
scored three rushing touchdowns for the Lions and got the scoring
started in the first quarter. He ran the ball 57 yards to the 1-yard
line, then finished off the drive with a score.
This year, Gause had more than 250 yards and scored his second touchdown of the game on an 18-yard run in the second quarter.

Heritage scored on its first drive of the third quarter to take a 21-14
lead when Fletcher carried the ball 41 yards into the end zone.
It didn’t take long for the Lions to tie up the game when Bailey tossed his 10th touchdown of the season to sophomore
Kyle Washington on fourth down in the third quarter.
Moments later Chaminade-Madonna’s
Edwin Joseph
picked off a pass near midfield. Going to the hurry-up, the Lions
quickly drove down the field and Joseph hauled in the go-ahead TD from
Bailey late in the third to take a 28-21.
The Patriots wouldn’t go away. Five-star senior Ohio State commit
Brandon Inniss caught a pass from Murphy and bolted 36 yards for the score.

up for Chaminde-Madonna is Gulliver Prep. American
Heritage has a bye before playing Sept. 30 against Cardinal Gibbons,
the No. 7 team in Florida.
