One of my all-time favorite movies, based on one of my all-time favorite novels. The performances are perfection, including Kim Stanley's wonderful narration as the adult Scout; and Elmer Bernstein's magnificent original score never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Of course Gregory Peck was born to play the role of Atticus Finch, and it's easy to see why he won the Best Actor Oscar. I am thrilled that it's making its 4K debut. It's a must-own.
'To Kill a Mockingbird' gave me no useful advice on killing mockingbirds. It did teach me not to judge a man based on the color of his skin, but what good does that do me? (Homer Simpson)
I dont mind that its not the original poster art. But the character of Scout really should be featured prominently. And it should show Brock Peterss face, not the back of his head.
@kaden1108: I have to think here is no way that Go Set a Watchman will ever be adapted. Or at least I hope not. (By the way its now understood to be an early draft of Mockingbird, not the sequel it was marketed as.) The circumstances of its publication are very fishy indeed:
The Blu-ray was abominable and everything Universal used to be in terms of bad transfers. Heres hoping this finally fixes that wrong and has a decent mono presentation.
From 1962, one of the greatest films ever made. This film, in almost any other year would have been a sure bet to win the Best Picture Oscar. It just had the unfortunate timing to have come out in the same year as Lawrence of Arabia.
One of the greatest films ever made in Robert Mulligans masterpiece To Kill a Mockingbird is finally receiving a 4K UHD edition. The cover art is blah & could be far better as they should have used the Blu-Ray Digibook artwork instead. This should look stunning in 4K though. To think, Kino had the chance to do this films release in 4K but turned it down lol. But just glad its finally getting its 4K release on UHD.
@markthedoctor: Personally, I agree. I also rate it higher than Lawrence of Arabia on my personal best films list but at that time, the Academy, more often than not, seemed to favor those massive productions over smaller ones.
