Cecil Cunningham Obituary

Cunningham, Cecil James age 92 of Windsor passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Hants Community Hospital.

Born in Hantsport, he was the son of the late Hamilton and Verna (Benedict Cunningham of Mt. Denson.

Cecil is survived by his sons; Ralph of Belleville, ON; Glenn (Bridgette) of Gaspereau, Kevin (Linda) of Brighton, ON; Blain (Helen) of Burnslake, BC; and Bruce (Paulette) of Burnslake, BC and daughter Susan of Hantsport. Brother Stanley Edmunston, NB, sister Bernice Blanchard of Kentville, Iris Faulkner of Hantsport, Valerie Cunningham of Canning and daughter-in-law Angela of Kingston, ON. As well as 9 grandchildren, 22 great grand children, 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and Penny Cunningham a loving member of the family

Besides his parents, Cecil is predeceased by his wife of almost 60 years, Eva. Brother Leverette “Biff”, son Garth, son-in-law Bernard “Tack”.

Cecil was a 25 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air force Having joined right out of Highschool. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch #009 for 55 years and a 48 year member of the Lions Foundation.

Cecil and Eva were Foster parents for many years and looked after a lot of Children some have still kept in touch. Cecil was heavily involved in Minor Hockey and Baseball with his boys and Umpired for many years along with playing sports. He was a proud parent and Grandfather.

The family would also like to express their appreciation of the support Cecil received in the Hants Community Hospital from all the Doctors and Nursing Staff. They were all very caring and supportive.

A Graveside service will take place on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 1:00pm at Mt. Denson Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will take place immediately following the burial at the Royal Canadian Legion branch #009, 35 Empire Ln, Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Foundation of Guide Dogs
