Epicenter had his final pre-Preakness work Monday morning at Churchill Downs, going four furlongs in 50.4 seconds. It was his first work since finishing second in the Kentucky Derby to long shot Rich Strike

“We just gave him an easy half-mile nine days off of the Derby,” trainer Steve Asmussen told the Preakness media team. “Obviously, we’re very happy how Epicenter came out of the Derby. He’s consistently been a sound horse and heads up to Baltimore early (Tuesday) morning.”

Jackie's Warrior, also trained by Asmussen, had his first work since winning the Churchill Downs (G1) on the Kentucky Derby undercard.
