Sailing Collects 12 All-NEISA Selections, Young Awarded Babineau Crew of the Year

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Brown coed and women's sailing received 12 All NEISA selections including three finalists for Open Skipper of the Year, Open Rookie of the Year, and Babineau Crew of the Year.

Connor Nelson and Liam O'Keefe were selected as All NEISA First Team Open Skippers. Guthrie Braun was selected as Second Team. This is Nelson's third year, and O'Keefe's second year in a row being named to the Skipper First Team.

Katharine Doble and Brielle Willoughby were named to the All NEISA First Team Women's Skippers Team.  Charlotte Costikyan was named Second Team. This is all three sailors' first nominations. Last year, Willoughby was named Second Team for Women's Skippers.

Vera Allen and Savannah Young were named to the First Team Open Crew, with Emily Mueller making Second Team. This nomination marks Young's second year in a row earning this achievement. Allen and Mueller are first-time recipients of this nomination.

For the Women's Crews, Francesca Edmands and Lily Shore were named First Team, while Savannah Young was named Second. This is the first time that all three sailors have been named to the All NEISA Women's Crew Team

Connor Nelson was also named as a finalist for the 2024 Open Skipper of the Year. This award recognizes skill and sportsmanship. Yale's Teddy Nicolosi won the award.

Vera Allen was named as a finalist for the 2024 Open Rookie of the Year. This is given to the most outstanding sailor in their first year of college sailing. Yale's Ashley Highland was awarded the accolade.

Savannah Young was awarded the 2024 Babineau Crew of the Year. Donated by Coast Guard Academy sailors in memory of Cadet Julie Babineau,this award is given to the best crew in New England.

2024 Babineau Crew of the Year: This trophy was donated by Coast Guard Academy sailors in memory of Cadet Julie Babineau, killed in a summer sailing accident in 1981. Honorees are selected by the NEISA Awards Committee and seeks to identify the best crew in New England.
