They might not be as well-known in Australia as the British royal family, but that doesn't mean the Dutch royal family is any less glamorous – and what better way to get to know them than visually?

The King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, made a dig at Catherine, Princess of Wales after her photoshop scandal.

In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, the royal was seen at an event with children in the crowd.

He bent down to listen to one child who told him, "I have seen a picture of you and your whole family!"

The royal clapped his hands and responded, "Really? That was not Photoshopped apparently!"

He then waved at the adults as they laughed at his joke.

The Princess of Wales found herself in hot water earlier this week after she admitted to photoshopping a picture of herself and her three children.

The image was uploaded in celebration of Mothers Day in the UK, and to provide some relief for concerned fans after the royal was seen for the first time in weeks riding in her mum's car.

Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands have stepped out for a night out during an official visit by the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeo and Korean First Lady Kim Keon Hee.

The royal group were there for a concert in honor of the Korean president at AFAS Live theater on December 13.

Queen Maxima chose a chic charcoal cape coat over a sliver gown for the nighttime event.

She completed the look with nude heels and a clutch bag and impressive diamond necklace.

The Dutch royal household shared a new portrait of the heir to the throne, Princess Catharina-Amalia, on December 7, 2023.

The Netherlands' royal - whose title is Princess of Orange-Nassau - marked her 20th birthday with a new portrait, which was also shared across social media.

Taking a leaf out of the Princess of Wales' book, the young royal opted for a suit look, wearing a black trouser and blazer combo by Italian designer Marina Rinaldi.

Kate, Princess of Wales, is a member of the British royal family who has become famous recently for her tailored looks on official engagements.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima travelled to South Africa for a state visit in October at the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

On day one of their visit, October 18, they were trying to take a photo beneath the famous Jacaranda trees in Pretoria but found their motorcade blocked by a locked gate.

So the royal party got out and took the photos where their cars stopped – in the middle of the street.

But other cars behind them started to approach, forcing one of the royal protection officers to run towards the vehicles, shooing them away so the photos could be taken without interruption.

Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander found the situation amusing and were photographed laughing by the waiting media.

The King and Queen eventually got their photo despite the initial chaos.

Pretoria is known as Jacaranda City in South Africa because of the number of stunning trees that bloom during the springtime.

On the first day of their three-day tour, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Apartheid Museum in Pretoria.

South Africa is one of the Netherlands' most important African partners in the areas of economics, politics, culture, education and science.

The two cooperate actively on solutions for a more just, inclusive and sustainable future.

The museum opened in 2001 and illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid.

It pays tribute to Nelson Mandela, who led the campaign for change in South Africa which led to him being imprisoned for 27 years.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Blesbokspruit Wetland reserve where she and the King heard about the challenges South Africa faces with regard to water quality and availability.

Maxima, in her role as queen, paid tribute to the Netherlands in her outfit, with orange citrine earrings and accessories.

The Dutch royal family descends from the House of Orange, and their daughters are known as the Princesses of Orange-Nassau.

The Dutch royal family seem to be just like any other, insistent on having the dog be a part of their family pictures.

King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and their daughters Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane were joined by their adorable two-year-old pooch Mambo on the Dutch Royal Family Summer photocall at Zuiderstrand beach.

But it was Mambo that stole the show, jumping out of the Queen's arms and making the beach his own!

The family pup caused a ruckus on the beach, playfully jumping around and digging holes in the sand, while making sure to keep up appearances in each photo, whether it be a full frontal portrait or a glimpse of him in the distance.

Queen Maxima, wearing an appropriately beachy white dress with puffy sleeves, was seen dutifully holding Mambo's leash in her hand in every shot.

Meanwhile, Willem-Alexander wore a white ensemble with a light blue checkered jacket.

His eldest daughter and heir to the throne, Princess Catharina-Amalia, 19, wore a yellow blazer and blue jeans, while her younger sister Princess Alexia, 18, wore a casual white tank top with blue wide-legged pants.

The youngest, Princess Ariane, 16, wore a deep green embroidered top with white pants.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands is known for her quirky sense of style and that was well and truly on display during a one-day visit to Milan.

The 51-year-old wore a trench coat covered with cut outs, or holes, by Danish designer Claes Iversen from his 2019 collection.

She was in the Italian city to visit Milan Design Week, which brings together talented designers from all over Europe.



Speaking at one of the events Maxima said: "Italy and the Netherlands bring out the best in each other".

"The city of Eindhoven in particular has a close connection with Milan. Italian aesthetics and Dutch boldness: together a recipe for success!"

The day before, on April 17, Denmark's Crown Princess Mary was in Milan to visit Danish designers showcasing their works.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands have welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.

The two couples attended a banquet during Macron's state visit to the Netherlands on April 11.

Queen Maxima wore a new gown by Danish designer Claes Iversen and the Dutch Antique Pearl tiara, one of the most beautiful pieces in the royal family's collection.
