Caroline Spelman (born 4 May 1958) was the Conservative Party MP for Meriden from 1 May 1997 to 6 November 2016, succeeding Iain Mills and preceding Saqib Bhatti.
Biography[]
Caroline Spelman was born in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England on 4 May 1959, and she worked for the National Farmer's Union before entering politics as a member of the Conservative Party. She served as MP for Meriden in the Midlands from 1997 to 2016, and she became controversial for using her state income to pay for a nanny, as well as for her stance on Brexit. She decided to stand down during the 2019 election.
