German Lutheran pastor and the father of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. He died on 30 July 1849.

Oct. des Schlachtjahres 1813 geboren, in Eilenburg' . . . in der Torgauer Straße Nr. 37, nicht weit entfernt vom Pfarrhaus an der Stadtkirche St. Nicolai, in dem, wie die Geburtsurkunde belegt, am „zehnten October eintausendachthundert und dreizehn früh halb drei Uhr Carl Ludwig Nietzsche als Sohn des Oberpfarrers und Superintendenten Friedrich August Ludwig Nietzsche und seiner Ehefrau Erdmuthe Dorothea, geborene Krause, das Licht der Welt erblickt.'"
Translation: 'My father was born on 10 Oct. 1813, in Eilenburg' [wrote Friedrich Nietzsche] ... At 37 Torgau Road, not far from the vicarage of the church of St Nicholas, as the birth certificate states, on 'tenth October one thousand eight hundred and thirteen in the morning at half past two o'clock, Carl Ludwig Nietzsche, the son of the upper pastor and superintendent Friedrich August Ludwig Nietzsche and his wife Erdmuthe Dorothea, nee Krause, saw the light of day.'
