- M CItaly340 contributionsit needs a higher ratingThere are no words to express this Museum. You should be prepared for breathtaking workmanship. You are best to go with a tour, be patient and if anything make this top of your list- you only get 20 minutes, so ask the guide to tell you a bit about it outside so you can take as much as you can in while inside.Visited April 2023Written June 5, 2023
- Anton K3 contributionsExtremely impressive, wonderful museumThis place was an absolute shocker to me, because I hadn’t really seen it in any travel guides. The sheer amount of art, architecture, sculptures, history and beautiful views of the city and surrounding scenery absolutely blew me away. Although I’d hate to lose the peacefulness of almost having this whole museum to myself and a few others, I think that this attraction should be up there on the top places to go in Naples. Definitely one of the best uses of 7 euros so far! Absolutely would go back again, this time for a longer period.Visited June 2023Written June 18, 2023
- TreasuryGuyHonolulu, Hawaii65 contributionsWorth the 1/2 hour to tourA private chapel, it doesn't take long to visit (20-30 minutes) but I recommend getting the audio guide to understand and appreciate the works of art. It's a "must" to pre-book the timed ticket during any busy season. Going late in the day gets you more time as we chose the last available time slot of the day and it wasn't especially crowded.Visited June 2023Written June 22, 2023
- MicLondon, United Kingdom9 contributionsGet the audioguideAn amazing collection of sculptures. I would recommend the audioguide which gives the historical and religious context to the works as well as highlighting features of the sculptures to look for. However, the ticket is a bit expensive for its size and how crowded it is.Visited May 2023Written July 3, 2023
- RamonaAuckland Central, New Zealand674 contributionsBeautiful!Beautiful but very small museum. It is only one room which you enter through and there you see the magnificent sculpture. I understand why but it was such a shame that no photos can be taken. You really won’t need longer than 15-20 minutes in here.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten July 18, 2023
- Jason SMelbourne, Australia1,715 contributionsFor Art loversReally nice museum/church/chapel depending on what you want to call it. Lots of art and beautiful architecture to the building, not a very big space so you can easily see this in under an hour. Located on heart of a Naples and easy to get to.Visited February 2023Traveled soloWritten August 1, 2023
- will_okeeffeCork, Ireland40 contributionsStunningThe Sansevero Chapel is incredibly beautiful. The Cristo Velato sculpture is truly mindblowing, but this tiny space is also festooned with many other interesting artworks and curiosities. It is worth getting the audio guide to get the most out of your visit.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 16, 2023
- wiseoldowlReykjavik, Iceland1,028 contributionsWonderfulTruly awesome veiled Christ carving and all the exhibits worth seeing. I would advise you book online for the €10 before you go and pick your time slot to beat the queues. Quite hard to find but a true gem. Brilliant masterpieceVisited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 16, 2023
- Isa bGatineau, Canada1,459 contributionsSo touching! We had reserved tickets ahead of time with an audio-guide. It was worth it to skip the line. The audio-guide was great, as we could learn about the veiled Christ, but also the other paintings and sculptures in the Chapel. Its a quick visit depending on how much you listen to the audio-guide. You can do a good visit in about 1 hr I would say. It is beautiful and and must in Naples.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 18, 2023
- giacomina17Brisbane, Australia569 contributionsTotally stunningAt the moment, you can only get timed tickets online. Many tourists arrived at the ticket office to find that out!! No photos inside and they are very strict about that. Inside is quite small so only a certain number is allowed in at any one time. Most come to see the Veiled Christ- it is stunning and you have to marvel as to how the sculptor did it. Well worth seeing.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 5, 2023

Known as Cappella Sansevero Art Museum, or Chapel of Santa Maria della PietĂ , this Neapolitan building contains a diverse collection of ornate sculpture visible for just 7Euro. Adhering to a strict photography policy, circumvented only through time and patience, expect to spend an hour in the two small chambers, mesmerized by the ornate netting on Il Disinganno and breathtaking Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino. Downstairs guests will also find two anatomical studies of human vasculature that long pre-date the "Bodies" exhibits touring globally

The veiled Christ is a must see and is breath taking. However, you are paying €10 for the privilege. The other sculptures and the lovely ceiling are of little importance. If you have travelled to Napoli and are at all interested in sculpture, I would definitely recommend paying to visit. 5 stars because you have to book online and the price goes from €8 to €10! Also the strict no photos policy is ridiculous.

For us it was a great occasion to compare the work of 2 sculptor on rendering transparency in marble. This place hosts the most unbelievable works in marble carving ever made. Id you do not care for marble sculpture, you might think this is a small and uninteresting place. We visited in low season and got to appreciate the intricate work despite the number of people. I cannot fathom visiting this small place in high season especialt since pictures are not allowed.

The veiled Christ sculpture and the small chapel is a must see if in Naples. There is a audio guide which you can purchase (€3.50) which gives loads of information and I would recommend getting it. It lasts just under 25 minutes and is about the right amount of time you need to spend here.
Make sure to book your tickets in advance ideally a couple of days before you plan on visiting as it books out.

We had a friend recommend we visit Sansevero during our visit to Naples and we were lucky that a guide we had hired was able to get us tickets at the last minute (you typically need to book in advance, we did not know this). The shrouded Jesus is a phenomenal piece of art, and the other statues in the room are also powerful works of art. HIghly recommend you visit with a guide or at least get the audio guide so that you can get the full scoop on the works of art in the room.

Be prepared for long lines to get into the chapel. Its wonderful. The statue of the veiled Christ itself is worth the visit; the rest of the chapel complements the statue. We went on Epiphany, which is a holiday in Italy and thus there were many Italian tourists. I would like to re-visit the chapel on an off day when it is less crowded. But overall well worth the wait!

Did not realise that it was only really the 2 rooms. Criminal how they charge €8 entry; myself and my partner spent €16 and spent about 10 minutes in there max!
We got in the main room, which is the first you go in, saw the veiled Christ (which is beautiful) and were really confused that we had missed something….
Wish I had read reviews before hand haha I was expecting a couple of hours in there. Couldn’t even take a picture!
If you like art/sculpture - I would highly recommend the main cathedral instead which is free to enter and is absolutely awe-inspiring

Dear visitor, we are very sorry that your experience did not live up to expectations and that you felt that the price of the 8 euro ticket was excessive. We would like to point out that the Sansevero Chapel is a totally private institution maintained exclusively thanks to the entrance fees paid by visitors. The Chapel does not receive – and never has received – any State funding.
If you decide to return to the museum, we recommend you extend your visit and pause to admire the other works or art in the Chapel, such as the statues of Disillusion, Modesty, and the other Virtues, or the Glory of Paradise, the fresco on the vaulted ceiling with its still vivid and radiant colours after over two hundred-and-fifty years, created using of a chemical formula invented by the Prince of Sansevero himself.
It is not permitted to take photographs inside the Chapel out of respect for the place and the experience of other visitors, but truly excellent images of all the works can be found on the Museum's website and social media channels.
Thank you for your visit.
Kind regards.

I didn´t expect to find this jewel. I was told by a friend to visit this Chappel and I found an amazing work of art of "frescos" with stunning colors and an interesting history behind. It´s a small chappel and doesn´t have ac. At the entrance (on the left) they will provide you with a papel hand fan (if it´s summer you´ll need it). No pictures are allowed inside, to protect this masterpieces. Children under 18 pay half the entrance.
Take your time to appreciate this place, specially the veiled Christ marble sculpture. No words can describe this breathtaking work.
I bought the tickets and got inside right away (in July). There is a toilet in the ticket entrance in case you need it

Do not miss this when visiting Naples and do not get discouraged by the queue if you did not pre-book, it moves quite fast. If you see one thing in there, it must be the sculpture of the veiled Christ.... indescribable. Before going, browse the site on the internet for some heads-up. An audio guide is recommended, follow it and be patient with the narratives, there is a lot of information to get.

Some of the most beautiful marble sculptures we’ve ever seen. We also loved the fact that you absolutely can’t take pictures and use your phone...it enhances even more the experience!
A part for the chapel with the famous Cristo Velato and other really amazing sculptures, there is also a second part with two anatomical models, really ahead of their time. A must visit in Naples, and good to see a place so well preserved, organized and curated.

si gli auricolari sono multilingue, Unico problema è che essendo un auricolare per due persone la lingua ascoltabile è solo quella scelta. In questo caso il vostro ospite avrà un apparecchio da solo

Visiting for just one day. Which places should I visit in Naples and do I just walk around or join a tour?

If you're in Naples for one day , the best way to visit Naples and get pizza is to get either at the Dante subway station and walk all the way through visiting churches and museums . Or to get at the University Station Line 2 of metro station and go to see the National Napoli Tours agency on the place for pieces of advices or places . Good luck ! Have a great time !

Dear Carlos,
Thank you for your interest! We bought the ticket at the ticket booth at the Cappella; the queue looks longer than it actually takes to get in, but only a limited number of persons is allowed to stay inside, so that everyone inside has some space to ramble around and contemplate. I am not sure, though, how to answer your question, but I would assume that nowadays your smartphone ticket should be accepted.
All the best - enjoy your visit! I would be interested in hearing about your impressions!
