WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for the Batwoman Season 2 premiere, "What Happened to Kate Kane?," which debuted Sunday on The CW.

Actor Camrus Johnson explained his character's reaction to Bruce Wayne's return in Batwoman's Season 2 premiere.

The newest season of Batwoman begins with the previous Batwoman, Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), going missing after her plane crashes near Gotham City. "Luke's not dealing with Kate's disappearance very well," Johnson clarified in a promo clip shared by The CW.

"With Kate being one of his only close friends, I think her disappearance is very hard for him to grasp," Johnson added. "He's tending to throw his anger at a lot of people who don't deserve it."

Shortly after Kate's disappearance, Luke encounters a familiar face in the form of the long-missing Bruce Wayne (Warren Christie). However, it's really the villain Tommy Elliot/Hush in disguise as Luke's old friend and boss. "I'd say Luke is extremely excited about Bruce Wayne's return," Johnson said. "I mean, he looks up to Bruce. Bruce Wayne is Luke Fox's hero, his guide, his teacher. I think when Bruce Wayne comes back it's sort of like a relief. He's finally back, he's okay, he can stop worrying and hopefully things can get back to normal."

Fortunately, Luke and his allies uncovered the truth and aim to stop Tommy from gaining access to the Batsuit. Problem is, they have to work with Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie), a homeless young woman who recovers the suit in the wreckage of Kate's plane. "Luke doesn't really trust Ryan," Johnson explained. "He doesn't even want her to wear the suit."

Although Ryan successfully uses the Batsuit to defeat Tommy in a fight, she returns it to Luke afterward, feeling she isn't worthy of wearing it yet. However, with Kate still missing and Alice's gang continuing to wreak havoc in Gotham, it won't be long before Luke realizes Ryan is the perfect choice to put on the cape and cowl and suit up as Batwoman.

Airing Sundays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox, Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton-Kane.
