Mindy Kaling Shared a Rare Photo of Her Daughter Katherine at the White House

Mindy Kaling was honored with a National Medal of Arts from President Joe Biden during a ceremony at The White House yesterday, and took her daughter Katherine with her for the major moment. And while Mindy is extremely private about Katherine, she did share a photo of them holding hands (without revealing Katherine's face) in this post of photos from the day:

"A little while ago, I got a call from Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson that the National Endowment of the Arts and the office of the President wanted to give me the National Medal of Arts for my work in television and as an author," Mindy shared in part. "I’m still processing how to receive the news. Yesterday, I went with my family to receive the medal at the White House. To hear the President speak about my parents, their journey to the United States, my late mother’s dreams for me, and the power of comedy to make people understand each other was almost too much to take in. It didn’t feel real! I mean, I was sitting next to GLADYS KNIGHT."

Mindy, who also has a son named Spencer, explained why she doesn't post photos of her children's faces back in 2021, telling People, "I have no judgment for people in the public eye who share photos and videos of their children. My sense is that [my kids] have no real consent right now to do that. ... I feel like I might as well wait until they get old enough so they can tell me if they want to be part of my social media or not."

She added, "Sometimes it's just a safety thing. I don't want to be at the airport and have someone be like, 'Spencer, Katherine,' and have them look to the people as though they know them or they're friends. I think that could be really confusing as a kid. So that's the reason I'm doing it, but it's hard because they're such a huge part of my life. And I'm like any parent where I'm proud of the things they do. I think they're so cute, and of course, I want other people to see it!"

Makes sense/so happy for Mindy getting this recognition! That medal looks all kinds of fancy.
