Bruce Cohen (b. 1953)

Bruce Cohen is involved in the contemporary realism movement that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His subject matter is of domestic interiors that contain no people, but show signs of inhabitation. Cohen’s style is hard-edged and crisp, with a prominent source of lighting. His influences are Indian miniature painting, Dutch still life painters and the Surrealists.

Bruce Cohen was born in Santa Monica, California in 1953. Cohen attended University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated in 1975. Cohen is represented in public and private collections such as Phillip Morris, New York, Pacific Bell, Los Angeles, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York among others.
