“I am pleased to be able to announce a season of [four Revival Series] racing events at three of North America’s best race tracks where Formula 5000 cars competed from 1968 to 1976—and will compete again in 2023,” said Seb Coppola, President of the Formula 5000 Drivers Association.

“2023 will mark the 55th Anniversary of the beginning of Formula A/F5000 in 1968,” Coppola added. “We expect a large contingent of cars that originally raced from 1968 to 1976 [and] are particularly thrilled to have more than a dozen cars and racers join us from New Zealand, Australia, and England at the Rolex Motorsport Reunion and other events.”

The 2023 U.S. Formula 5000 Revival Races:

* April 27-30 Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (HSR The Mitty)
* July 12-16: Road America (The WeatherTech International Challenge with Brian Redman)
* Aug. 11-12: Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca (Rolex Monterey Motorsports Pre-Reunion)
* Aug. 16-19: Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca (Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion)

Formula 5000’s heritage is a storied one. The popular ’68-’76 SCCA pro series in the U.S. featured many of the elite drivers of the era, among them Brian Redman, David Hobbs, Mario Andretti, Mark Donohue, Jody Scheckter, Tony Adamowicz, John Cannon, Graham McRae, Al Unser Sr., and others competing in British and American chassis Chevron, Eagle, LeGrand, Lola, March, McKee, McLaren, McRae, Shadow and Surtees.

The three tracks hosting the Formula 5000 group in 2023 are ideal venues for the V8-powered F5000 cars, with long straights, sweeping turns, elevation changes, a kink, a corkscrew, and other features setting them apart—fun for drivers and fans alike.

The U.S. Formula 5000 Drivers Association is a membership club established to promote the restoration, presentation, registration and racing of historic FA and F5000 race cars.
