We love the Brandywine Zoo! We are members of the zoo and have been for several years. We love all the events they hold and the discounts for kids programs and camps. My stepson has attended Zoo Camp in past years, just as my husband and I did as kids. He also attended the Animal Workshops they hold on weekends throughout the year. We have enjoyed the Member Nights as well as Brew at the Zoo every year. This zoo is a manageable size for those with smaller kiddos that might not have the stamina for the Philly or DC Zoo. It also comes with a much reduced price tag, making it less hard to swallow if you have to leave after a couple hours due to a meltdown. They have a little snack bar inside as well as a gift shop. You can also picnic across the street at the edge of the Brandywine River where you can feed the ducks or take a walk in the Rose Garden.

On the smaller size for a zoo then what I am used to, but it was clean, the animals were a pleasure to see. Most were small mammals (Monkeys, turtles, liners, cranes, bob cats etc0. It is a zoo that you can cover in about an hour or less. I think the price for adult of $7 per person was on the high end for the level of attraction but I would reconsider if I were to return back Wilmington.

We loved our visit to the Brandywine zoo! It is situated in such a scenic location by the river - ideal to bring a picnic along. The grounds are clean and beautifully landscaped, the animals are at ease and well taken care of. This is an ideal zoo for little ones as you can move through it in about an hour. I highly recommend this gem!!!

This is a zoo review by Bruce the zoo guy of the Wilmington Brandywine Zoo. This is a very small Zoo. But it is very well done. The enclosures are nice and spacious and even though there's very few animals you seem to be treated very well. Small gift shop small snack bar but that's about it. There are none of the big popular animals like elephants giraffes or anything like that. They're all smaller animals and birds. But like I said it is pretty nicely done. And the setting of it in the park by the river is very nice.

Stopped here to break up our ride home from Rehoboth beach. It was a perfect place to stop for an hour to give ourselves a rest from driving. This is a very small zoo but clean and very well maintained. The animals in the zoo are all endangered except for petting zoo area. They have nice gift shop and a small snack area. You do not need more than an hour but worth a visit

Thank you for your comments! Glad we could provide respite from the long drive. Come see us again sometime for one of our special events or as we make progress on our Master Plan. Always something to see here at the Brandywine Zoo.

As someone who had never been to Wilmington before, I found the Zoo very difficult to find. I understand that some signage that usually is on I-95 is down because of construction. But there’s almost nothing in the neighborhood to guide you, either.
Once I got there, I enjoyed it. At $7 for adults, it’s very affordable. It does not take long to see it all. In fact, this is probably the smallest accredited zoo I’ve ever seen. I saw everything twice in about 45 minutes. The animals look well cared for, I loved seeing the porcupine and capybara, and the staff was very friendly. Don’t expect to spend a whole day there, but it’s worth a visit.

This is a small Zoo ,located in the heart of beautiful Brandywine park, surrounded with forest, river, flowers garden, and lovely landscape.
Great place to take the kids and visit wonderful world of wild animals.
You can also learn about animals habitats from Zoo keepers, and admire smallest deer species in the world,Southern Pudu from Chile ,there are only 200 in the Zoos
around the world and we did see,two of them today.

You can also enjoy shopping in the Zootique or have a treat in
the snack bar.
Take a walk along the beautiful Brandywine river, and visit lovely flowers garden ,or have a picnic in this pleasant park.
Nice journey.

I was recently visiting in the Wilmington Delaware area and decided to visit the Brandywine Zoo. This is a relatively small Zoo, not much to see here. If you have small kids this could b as a fun day out for them. Maybe due to the pandemic things were a bit slow that day and animal exhibit weren't quite ready. Overall it was a nice day out.

This place is more like a super tiny mini zoo. The price for entry is too high for what you get to see. Really should be max $5 each. Save your $ and go to an actual zoo like Philadelphia zoo. We walked in and before you knew it we were already at the exit because there was no more to see.

I like this little zoo. It is very small, but sometimes small is nice. Sit for a while and watch the animals. With large zoos there are more animals, of course, but you tend to pass them quickly, in a crowd, and tick them off a virtual list. Do you really ever watch them? That’s what we did here. We observed the animals, and they were so interesting, how they interacted with each other, how they rested, and ate, and played. It’s a very small zoo. Yes. But it’s a nice small zoo, and it’s across from a lovely park. Bring a picnic, enjoy the day.
