It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Honorable Brandy Young Oliver Brown, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Brandy passed peacefully on May 1, 2024 at the age of 55, surrounded by her loved ones. Brandy was born in Berea, Madison County, Kentucky in 1968, the cherished daughter of Roger & Muff Oliver. She grew up with a vibrant spirit, a contagious laugh, and a passion for life that touched everyone she encountered. Brandy’s warmth and kindness radiated in all aspects of her life, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her. Brandy pursued her education with dedication and enthusiasm, graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with an English degree in 1990, after which she earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky in 1993. She embarked on a fulfilling career, first as a law clerk to the Honorable William Jennings, Madison Circuit Court, and later in private practice with her father as well as working as an Assistant County Attorney in Richmond, Kentucky, where her intelligence, creativity, and empathy shone brightly, earning her the admiration and respect of colleagues and clients alike. In 2001, she was appointed by Governor Paul Patton to fill a vacancy in the Madison/Clark District Court, where she served until her appointment to the Madison/Clark County Circuit Court, serving there until her medical condition forced her early
retirement in 2023. Her time on the bench was noteworthy as one filled with compassionate justice, renowned to be “firm but fair” by all who knew her. However, Brandy’s greatest joy came from her role as a devoted wife to her loving husband Ben Robinson III and a nurturing mother to her two sons, Anthony Sebastian Brown and Alexander (“Zane”) Payne Brown, her two stepsons Ben Robinson IV and Graham Robinson, and two “adopted” sons Will Brennan and Jacob Brennan. She poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and loving home, where laughter and love flourished. Brandy was known for her fierce loyalty to her loved ones, and her boundless generosity. She had a gift for making everyone feel valued and cherished, and her presence brought light and joy to any gathering.
In her free time, Brandy enjoyed gardening, traveling, watercolor painting, word games and spending time with her horses, finding solace and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader and a news/current events enthusiast. Brandy’s memory will be forever treasured by her beloved family, including her husband, children, siblings, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who were fortunate to have shared in her life’s journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to CASA of Madison County (madisoncasa.org) in Brandy’s honor, as the protection of and advocacy for juveniles within the court system was a lifelong passion of hers.
A celebration of Brandy’s life will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2-5 pm at The Lakes Funeral Home, Berea, Kentucky. Rest in peace, dear Brandy. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
