Former rival campaign volunteer files charges against City Council President Scott
Baltimore City Council President and mayoral candidate Brandon Scott is facing second-degree assault charges.
The charges stem back to an incident earlier this month, where Scott claimed he was assaulted by Michael Moore, a volunteer for Sheila Dixon's campaign while heading into a mayoral forum.
After that incident, Dixon said she told Moore to leave.
Now Moore, the man Scott said assaulted him, filed second-degree assault charges against him.
Scott's office released this statement to 11 News on Wednesday saying, “We don’t know why Mr. Moore is filing this false statement, but what he claims is patently false, and is contradicted by people who witnessed his behavior, his own statements on social media before and after the incident, and by his termination by the Dixon campaign. City residents will not be fooled, and the Council President will not be distracted from the important work of serving the people of Baltimore.”
This report will be updated.
